PALS offer a large variety of services to people of all ages. Our services focus on providing assessments and reports for individuals and offer intervention options based on the results of those assessments with the aim of helping individuals reach their potential.
PALS reports are accepted by the Department of Education and Science (DES) and for qualification for the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) when applying for Third Level Education entry.
Psycho-Educational Assessment :
This is an assessment focusing on the learning ability of an individual and is used to identify whether a learning difficulty or disability may be present. This includes general learning disabilities as well as more specific disabilities such as Dyslexia and Dyscalculia. This assessment is suitable for individual of all ages, however we would recommend 7 years to be the youngest for Dyslexia/Dyscalculia assessments.
Comprehensive Educational and Behavioural/Emotional Assessment (Including ADD/ADHD):
Frequently learning difficulties are accompanied by emotional and behavioural problems. This assessment carries out a full psycho-educational assessment in addition to also examining behavioural and emotional difficulties that may be presenting at home and in the school environment, with the purpose of recommending supports to be put in place to help, such as a Special Needs Assistant. This form of assessment can also diagnose ADD/ADHD.
Fee: €250 (€500 when combined with a psycho-educational assessment)
These assessments examine the strengths and weaknesses of the individual and where their key skills lie in order to establish a suitable career path. This can be helpful for people leaving school, or people whose circumstances may have changed opening the door for the possibility of career change.
Literacy and numeracy testing only. Useful for DARE Application where a Cognitive assessment has already been completed but up to date literacy/numeracy scores are needed.
