Attainment Testing

Attainment testing is a literacy and numeracy testing only, predominantly used for DARE applications to provide up to date literacy and numeracy scores.

PALS offers professional attainment testing for  teenagers, offering leading testing services by professional, qualified, and experienced psychologists.

Psycho-Educational Assessment

This is an assessment focusing on the learning ability of an individual and is used to identify whether a learning difficulty or disability may be present, be it a general learning disability or a more specific learning disability (such as Dyslexia or Dyscalculia).  First class and onwards is the earliest recommended age for these assesments.

 

Using a friendly and professional approach, PALS offers full psycho-educational assessment services for children, adolescents and adults.

Comprehensive Psychological (and Multi-Disciplinary where Required) Assessment

Comprehensive Psychological (and Multi-Disciplinary where Required) Assessment

This assessment includes an overall profile of an individuals Educational, Emotional, Behavioural and Social Profile. 

 

Where DSM-5 diagnostic criteria is met, it may diagnose:

 

Learning disabilities (e.g. intellectual disabilities, dyslexia, dyscalculia, etc),

and/or

Emotional Behavioural Disturbances (e.g. ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Anxiety, Conduct Disorder) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).  

 

Due to a very high level of demand for these assessments, they are only available for school aged children/adolescents.  For Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) referrals, 3 years is the youngest age.  For other concerns, 6 to 17 years.

PALS works with people of all ages. Our assessments give individuals the chance to create strategic interventions so they can achieve their full potential, whether it is in school, at home, or for life in general.
Our reports are accepted by the HSE, the Department of Education and Science (DES), and for qualification for the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) when applying for Third Level Education entry.

 

Requesting an assessment is easy. Simply select the services button on top of the website and choose the assessment you are looking for.  Here you will find the consent and referral form for you to initiate the assessment process.

I'm looking for an educational psychologist near me. Can you help?

 The PALS facility is in Castletown, Ballina, Co. Tipperary, V94 YC90. While the majority of our clients are based within the Munster region we do work with people nationwide.

Do you provide assessments for adults?

We do carry out educational assessments for individuals of all ages from young children to adolescents and teenagers to adults.  However due to high levels of demand and a need to prioritize, we no longer provide the more comprehensive assessments for adults (e.g. ADHD and ASD assessments).  

How can I get an assessment for my child?

Requesting an assessment is very easy. Simply use the "schedule a call" facility, and we will be in touch at  a time that suits you..  

Can you carry out multiple assessments for schools?

Yes, PALS works with a large number of schools. For more details on our school-based assessments, you can contact our team directly.  If only one assessment is required, our travel radius is limitted to one hour from the clinc.
